Who will be UMNO's 7th President

Muhyiddin will wait for Pak Lah's signal
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 - Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin continues to play his cards very closely to his chest by keeping mum on which position he is targeting in the March party elections. Speaking to reporters at the Aidilfitri open house hosted by the Federal Cabinet at the Putra World Trade Centre here today, the International Trade Minister said he is waiting for party president Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi's "signal" before announcing his decision.

"I will wait to see what signal is given by Pak Lah," he said.

Speculation has been rife that Muhyiddin is aiming for the No. 2 post following his open call for Abdullah to voluntarily relinquish the presidency. However, he refused to allow himself to be pinned down for any particular post. (excerpt from Malaysian Insider)

Interesting. Muhyiddin, considered as the most vocal UMNO leader has made the comment this morning. We are waiting what will Pak Lah announce before the 9th of this month. Inevitably, UMNO has to have a change in the way they manage things. As we can see, Gerakan's acting president said that 60% of it's members opt to be out of BN. In Sabah, UPKO has given the signal that it will eventually follow suit what SAPP did; leaving the BN. All these events are definitely related to what is happening in UMNO right now. UMNO, the backbone of BN has to have a strong leadership in order to lead the other component parties. Some BN leaders are now showing their true colours, by denying the spirit of BN's solidarity. One mere example is Chua Jiu Meng, who has voice out that he will review the NEP if he is choosen as the next MCA's president. If UMNO is strong, all component parties would definitely adhere to what have been agreed upon by the past leaders.

We have to bear in mind, UMNO can always choose to govern on it's own but they never did that because they believe in power sharing. A clear instance is in Penang in the year 2004. UMNO's seats are more than what the MCA had or the Gerakan. If UMNO chose to be gullible, it could govern the state without even giving it to Gerakan.

Koh Tsu Koon's action lately does not reflect his sincerity. Just because Gerakan did badly in the last election, they are threatening to pull out from BN. When they governed the state of Penang before the last election, this notion does not even crop up. He is not looking at the mirror but instead point fingers at others.

I do believe that Najib will be nominated for the President's post and Muhyiddin as the Deputy President. When Ahmad Shabery Cheek said a few days ago that a black horse is going to offer himself as the Deputy President, I am in the opinion that he is just stirring the hornet's nest. Be realistic, Dato' Shabery. Please do not make things any worst in UMNO. UMNO has to close rank and believe me, UMNO will turn out to be much stronger in the years to come. I had the opportunity to have a chat with one of Najib's political aid a few months ago. He told me that Najib, being educated in the UK, is a gentleman. He is a man who holds to his promises and does not favour confrontation. Give Najib a chance to keep the house in order and bring back BN's glory days. 51 years is a living testimonial of what BN has done to the nation. I do believe the writers of this blog have also reap the reward of being Bumiputra's middle class, thanks to the government. Look at Ghana, for example. The country achieved it's independence on the 6th of March 1957. Malaysia got it's independence 5 months later. With due respect to the Ghana's people, we could compare what Malaysia has successfully gained compare to Ghana as at present. Go figure.

  2. Saya setuju dengan apa yang diperkatakan oleh pencak silat. UMNO mesti kena kuat barulah BN kuat menghadapi PR
